Ray Bonneville

Ray Bonneville

Ray Bonneville strips his bluesy Americana to its essentials, steeps it in the humid grooves of the South, and creates a poetry of hard living and deep feeling. Rich guitar and harmonica, spare and spunky rhythms, and Bonneville's deep, evocative voice combine to give this “song and groove man” his unmistakable sound.

Since leaving his career as a studio and touring blues musician to write and perform his own music, Bonneville has released nine albums, won Canada’s Juno and other prestigious awards, and earned an enthusiastic following in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

Tickets $18 general admission, for sale in advance at www.tix.com (search "Arrowhead Center for the Arts") and at door night of show.

Samite - Lessons of Humanity: What My Grandfather Taught Me

Samite - Lessons of Humanity: What My Grandfather Taught Me

Taught traditional flute as a child by his grandfather in Uganda, Samite Mulondo studied western flute in school, became one of East Africa's most acclaimed flutists, and is now known the world over for his musical talent and humanitarian work.

Samite has released ten internationally distributed CDs and has scored and appeared in acclaimed documentary films. In 1998 Samite was the subject of the documentary Song of the Refugee, distributed by PBS. In 2009 the film Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai, featuring Samite's original score, debuted nationally on PBS. Samite's humanitarian work began in 2002, with his founding of Musicians for World Harmony, an organization that enables global musicians to promote peace, understanding, and harmony among people. As a MWH ambassador, Samite travels to perform music and exchange stories with victims of war, poverty, and HIV/AIDS.

While in Grand Marais, Samite will perform Lessons of Humanity: What My Grandfather Taught Me, his solo show full of stories and music that illustrate the resilience of the human spirit and the fundamental appreciation that "we are all the same."

Tickets to "Lessons of Humanity" are $15 adults, $5 youth ages 18 & under, for sale at www.tix.com (search "Arrowhead Center for the Arts") and at door night of show.
