Michael Gulezian

Michael Gulezian

Over the past three decades, Michael Gulezian has established himself as one of the most significant solo acoustic instrumental guitarists of our time. Raising the aesthetic of contemporary acoustic guitar to a higher level with each new album, Gulezian has been named as a primary musical influence by artists as diverse as Michael Hedges, Willy Porter, and Henry Kaiser.
Not only technically breathtaking to watch, Gulezian is also known for his charismatic stage presence, offbeat humor, and genuine humility, which have earned him an ever-growing fan base. The atmospheric power, joy, and haunting beauty he creates onstage and in his recordings inspired a Dirty Linen reviewer to remark, “Gulezian messes with space and time in ways French composer Erik Satie could only dream of.”

Jazziz publisher Michael Fagien describes Gulezian’s work as “unbelievable … incredible … music from another planet.” Grammy-winning producer Richard Adler writes, “Michael Gulezian composes, arranges, and performs some of the most complex and emotional music ever written for solo acoustic guitar.”

General-admission tickets are $18 adults, $10 youth 18 & under. For sale in advance at (no fees, search "Arrowhead Center for the Arts"), by phone 218-387-1272, and at the box office on concert night (6:00 pm).

Sky Blue With Horns

Sky Blue With Horns

Join us for a concert celebrating the role of horns in the history of jazz, featuring trumpet soloist Tom Pfotenhauer (veteran jazz teacher, UMD Dept. of Music & Jazz Studies Program), backed by local players Eric Anderson on trombone, Erik Hahn on sax and flute, and the Sky Blue Jazz Ensemble led by Mike DeBevec.

The talents of these remarkable regional musicians will be showcased in self-composed horn arrangements and original compositions by Pfotenhauer and DeBevec, as well as favorite jazz standards and jazz/pop fusion tunes (Chicago, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Chuck Mangione), with six vocalists rounding out the ensemble.

The Barley Jacks

The Barley Jacks

The Barley Jacks perform original vocals and jaw–dropping instrumentals in a spirit of
excitement and fun. These masters of the fiddle, guitar, bass, and drum meld their divergent backgrounds of blues and bluegrass, classical and Celtic, R & B and bebop and inspire each other to create something entirely new. Frontman, fiddler, and mandolinist Brian Wicklund is joined by Mike Cramer on guitar, Keith Yanes on bass, and Joel Arpin on percussion. Virtuosity, magic, and a little danger combine to make every performance unique.
